Free food, tea, and friends each week!

The Bridge Café

Sharing tea with friends, laughing over an exciting game, learning about a country you’ve never visited, teaching someone to say “thank you” in your country’s language… these are all some of the wonderful and enriching experiences that happen each week at The Bridge Café. We hope you can join us this week as we begin a new semester of The Bridge. Come at 7 and stay until 9, or just drop in to say “hi.” This week we’ll have a special sharing time in which you can share about your country with an object from your country. Bring something from your country with you to share, like a coin, a hat, a picture, etc.

When: Thursday, August 28, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Where: SAC (Student Activity Center) 2.120

Welcome! (Another) Party!

Welcome-World-headerJoin us as we welcome new and returning international students with a party at the beautiful home of a family near campus. They built their house to have parties like this! We’ll eat, get to know each other, and hear briefly about Bridges International in Austin. Friends, fun, and better yet, free homemade food! For those that prefer to eat vegetarian or halal, we will have both options available. Everyone’s welcome!

Transportation is provided. Meet in front of Gregory Gym at 5:30 p.m. for transportation to the party. We’ll bring you back to Gregory Gym afterwards. Look for the people with the Bridges sign!

We’ll give away Italian shaved ice, Texas kettle corn, and other tasty treats, and we’ll have a Texas photo booth where you can dress up to show off your Texas style! We are looking forward to it!

Enough with all the bunnies!

The Bridge Café: Easter

Though the shopping malls in the U.S. would not lead you to believe, Easter is actually a more important holiday than Christmas. Easter, together with Good Friday, is the holiday in which Christians in the U.S. and around the world remember and celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. Unfortunately, this aspect of the holiday gets eclipsed by chocolate bunnies, colored eggs, and peeps. (Even Disney gets into it…)

But, because anything made out of chocolate is good, we will have some chocolate. We may even decorate some eggs for fun, but the real story is the “reason for the season,” as they say, so we’ll have a brief presentation on where Easter came from and why it’s celebrated. Hope you can join us!

When: Thursday, April 17, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Where: SAC 2.120
