Bowling!

Sometimes it feels good to knock things over. While some may be taking it to the streets, we’re heading underground with the J-1 Café this week with some bowling in the Union Underground. Don’t forget to bring some money and some socks (not money in your socks). Here’s your chance to take your stress out on some unsuspecting bowling pins. Where else can you hurl a 12 pound ball across the floor while dancing to disco music?

We hope to see you there!

Thursday, 7 p.m.
Meet at Starbucks in the Union

Oh, and you had better practice your bowling tricks. There’s some stiff competition!

The 7 things of the Persian New Year

“It’s hard to work together when you don’t have the same rules and you can’t communicate well.” That’s just one of the lessons we learned last week during our interesting and sometimes frustrating game called Barnga. I’d tell you all about it, but then it would spoil the game for your first time to play it! In order to help us work together better, we thought we should continue to learn more about each others’ cultures! This week we’ll celebrate the Persian New Year as it is celebrated throughout Central Asia and the Middle East, and you can find out what the 7 things are! You won’t want to miss it! Check out the facebook group Bridges International at UT for pictures from this weekend’s potluck and more!

The house is near the 7601 Northcrest/Prairie Dell bus stop, and you can take the 1M, 1L, or 10 to it. If you need help bringing your food and need a ride, send us an email.

Gimme a break…

It’s almost here, Spring Break, that is. Prepare for a week of no classes and better parking by joining us this Thursday at the J-1 Café. We’ll hang out, play games, and create our own cupcake masterpieces together! It’s sure to be a great beginning to your Spring Break! We’ve also got a few spots open for our retreat to Corpus Christi in Saturday. Don’t miss your chance for a fun and encouraging weekend on the coast of Texas!

Don’t get in line, Dance in line!

Last semester we set aside some time each week for students to spotlight their own country and culture. We certainly intend to continue that next fall, but for the next two weeks we’re going to spotlight the great state of Texas! This week we’ll celebrate with boots and boot-scootin’ (country line dancing) and next week will have a Salsa party with music and chips!

This week we’ll have Texas cookies, Texas facts, line dancing, and free Chick-fil-A!
