Bowling!

Sometimes it feels good to knock things over. While some may be taking it to the streets, we’re heading underground with the J-1 Café this week with some bowling in the Union Underground. Don’t forget to bring some money and some socks (not money in your socks). Here’s your chance to take your stress out on some unsuspecting bowling pins. Where else can you hurl a 12 pound ball across the floor while dancing to disco music?

We hope to see you there!

Thursday, 7 p.m.
Meet at Starbucks in the Union

Oh, and you had better practice your bowling tricks. There’s some stiff competition!

This week we’ll celebrate with boots and boot-scootin’ (country line dancing) and next week will have a Salsa party with music and chips!

This week we’ll have Texas cookies, Texas facts, line dancing, and free Chick-fil-A!

Fight for love this Valentine’s Day

Celebrate the holiday of love by fighting for those who have neither freedom nor love. Join the movement to help abolish slavery. Both of these organizations below work with people at all levels of society around the world to prosecute human traffickers and rescue the victims. Take this opportunity to take the next step.

Be mine?

Since Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday (guys, don’t forget!), we’ll be celebrating it J1 Café-style this week. Valentine’s Day is a holiday to celebrate those you love, but there are many for whom “B Mine” isn’t sweet. It’s slavery. There are 30 million slaves in the world today, many of whom are trafficked for sex. Therefore, we’ll celebrate this Valentine’s Day holiday not only by talking about love in relationships but also in discussing how love moves us to help those in need. For more information about this issue, visit NotForSaleCampaign.org We hope you’ll join us this Thursday.

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a great holiday and are ready for the Spring semester to begin. Everyone had a great time at the Vision conference in Washington, DC over New Year’s, and we’re sure you’ll hear all about it from those that went. For those that were at the conference and those that want to see what happened, pictures and several of the lectures from the conference will be available on bivisionconf.com in the coming week.

We are excited for the coming semester are ready to get started next week with J1 Café and several other activities that we’ve got planned. Stay tuned to our website or facebook page for more information, or, as always, just look out for the weekly emails to stay informed about what’s going on.

Vision 2011 Conference

Vision 2011 will be a world-class event in a world class city—Washington, D.C.! Students from approximately 60 nations will gather in America’s national capital for friendship, learning and fun. The Vision conference only comes to Washington every three years, so don’t miss Vision 2011!  You can see the promo video, find out more info, and register at bivisionconf.com.

Due to a large number of early registrations, the $50 scholarship will end before December 14. There are a limited number of $50 scholarships, and we estimate that we will run out before the final online registration deadline. So, if you’re still thinking of registering or have a friend who is, please do so soon before the $50 scholarship runs out!

Also, check out a welcome message from Fareed Tulbah, the speaker at the Vision 2011 conference!
